High cholesterol? Just looking to shed a few winter pounds? Cayenne pepper may help. Cayenne has been widely studied for its ability to speed up the metabolism of cholesterol and fat. New research shows that capsaicin, the active ingredient in cayenne, can prevent certain digestive issues and even help eliminate stomach damage caused by alcohol or aspirin. Beyond its apparent health benefits, cayenne also tastes great and enhances the natural flavors or meat, poultry, fish and produce. Here at Sapore, we use cayenne many different ways including paired with chocolate. If you have not had the opportunity to sample this delicious pairing, come in and try the Sapore Hot Chocolate or a Mayan Latte. Cayenne and chocolate will also be prominently featured this summer in our mango and chocolate mousse. Go beyond the traditional salt and pepper and experiment with cayenne next time you are in your own kitchen.

 

 

STRIVING FOR GREEN

According to a recent study of the EPA. if just 10% of restaurants replaced one incandescent bulb with an energy efficient compact fluorescent bulb, it would equate to $2.8 million in annual energy savings. Sapore is committed to reducing our impact on natural resources and our environment. To that end, we have recently changes, where possible, all bulbs in the restaurant to compact fluorescents. In your own home, switching to compact fluorescents can save you money and contributes to reducing your own carbon footprint. CLF can save you up to $30 over the life of the bulb and may last up to 15 times longer than the traditional incandescent bulb.
